Red Flags When Hiring a Software Agency in India

Sophisticated buyers are not looking for the flashiest homepage. They are looking for things that cannot be faked cheaply.

    Red flags

    • Portfolio projects with no named client, no screenshots you can verify, and miraculous % metrics
    • “150+ clients” / “100% problems solved” with no evidence
    • Guarantees that every business challenge will be solved
    • Contact details that change across pages
    • Service menus that claim banking, AI, cyber, and ERP equally with no depth
    • Refusal to put IP and acceptance criteria in writing
    • Pressure to pay large advances before a scope document

    Green flags

    • A live product the company actually runs
    • Named people with public profiles
    • Honest “we don’t do that” answers
    • Milestone payments
    • Maintenance options after launch

We rewrote our own site to remove vanity proof for this reason. See why BitLegacy and our Hotels case study.

    Frequently asked questions

Are low prices always a red flag?

Not always — but prices far below market without a clear lean scope usually mean missing QA, unclear ownership, or bait-and-switch staffing.

Want help putting this into practice?

BitLegacy builds software and websites that solve real business problems — and runs BitLegacy Hotels, hotel management software for independent Indian hotels.
